Ljósvera - carved icelandic sheep skull
Carved Icelandic Sheep Skull with Luminous Stone
One of a Kind
Price: $165
Ljósvera — a name meaning “light-being” — was chosen for the way this piece appears to hold light quietly within bone.
This genuine Icelandic sheep skull has been carefully hand carved, with flowing relief that follows the skull’s natural structure rather than overpowering it. The carving radiates outward from a central, faceted milky stone, creating a sense of movement and containment — as though the skull itself is formed around a held core.
The stone is translucent and softly luminous, likely opalite based on its clarity, glow, and faceted cut. It was selected not for symbolism alone, but for how it interacts with light, offering subtle shifts between soft white and pale warmth as it’s viewed from different angles.
This is a sculptural object intended for display — an altar piece, shelf object, or collected artifact — and is entirely one of a kind. Every mark was carved by hand, and no molds, templates, or replication methods were used.
