Troll Shield
The Troll Shield
Forged from bone, stone, and solder, this artifact was once part of a deer’s skull cap with antlers — cut, shaped, and sculpted into its final form as a warding shield. At its center rests a storm-grey agate slice, anchoring the piece in grounding and balance.
Mirrors dangle on chains, catching stray glances and reflecting malice back to sender. At the base, a row of bells rings softly, both warning and protective — their sound a reminder of the folk tradition that bells drive away ill spirits.
Every surface is textured with molten solder, shaped by hand into rugged terrain, as though grown or unearthed rather than made. The result is a singular ceremonial shield, protective and unsettling, meant to guard a threshold, altar, or sacred space.
Materials
Deer skull cap with antlers (cut and sculpted by hand)
Agate slice with druzy center
Hand-soldered and sculpted metalwork
Tiny mirrors on chain
Silver-toned chain and bells
